This piece was made for ‘Re:Generacja/ Re:Generation II”, the second open-air exhibition in a series called ‘Art District: the International Art Exhibition in Forgotten Poznan Districts”.
For this work I produced two billboards with a modified image of the standard highway signs seen when entering and exiting a town or city. These signs showed a stylized silhouette of the buildings in the then-poor area of Poznan called Sródka, where a considerable amount of European Union money had been allocated for urban regeneration. The residents of the district were, however, largely unable to reap the benefits as many seemed to have been moved out of the area as it went upmarket.
The text below the billboards said "Witajcie na Srodce" (welcome to Srodka) and "Wynocha ze Srodki" (get out of Srodka).
