The billboards were placed by the main roads into and out of the district. The Polish translation of the exit billboard is somewhat stronger than
the English version I have used above.

This resulted in some trouble. After a few days, someone taped out the offending words and a complaint was made to the city council. I was required to write a letter to the mayor of Poznan justifying my reasons for making the work.

Taken from the exhibition catalogue:

“The word regeneration suggests rebirth or recreation. Yet it can also mean replacement. The regeneration of a city space often involves a change in the class and economic status of the people who live there. My work was a way of provoking discussion on the different views that the residents of Sródka may feel to the rebuilding of their district.”
